Description

Leaders seek to understand their own context and that of their organisation and choose to evolve an approach that fits the context. This is in direct contrast to an overly simplistic application of models developed in entirely different industries, which will likely be sub-optimal at best.

Rationale

A typical example is choosing to apply the fashionable “Spotify” model without really understanding the context, application range and principles behind it. The most crucial factor generally missed is that "the Spotify model" was an evolved approach within that organisation at that time. Simply picking up a static, snapshot of a model to "Lift & Shift" it to another organisation misses the "Journey" part of the process where a lot of the magic happens.
